2016 was a great year for both Willfield Camera Club and Stoke-on-Trent. The latter was named as the European City of Sport project and the former were asked to document this with their photography skills. There was sport going on all over the place and our members were running round like the proverbial insect with the coloured rectum getting shots of as many sports as possible.
The shots were then submitted to a committee at the council and they whittled the pictures down to the amount required for four simultaneous exhibitions across the city. These will be on display throughout the Summer and each location has different pictures on display.
For your viewing pleasure you can see them at:
Fenton Manor-City Rd, Stoke-on-Trent ST4 2RR. Parking charges apply.
Northwood Stadium-Keelings Rd, Stoke-on-Trent ST1 6PB. Parking charges apply.
Wallace Centre-63 Abbots Rd, Stoke-on-Trent ST2 8DU
New Horizons-20 Uplands Ave, Stoke-on-Trent ST6 6SL
It was a great pleasure to be asked to take part and even be invited along to afternoon tea with the Lord Mayor as reward for our efforts.
Hopefully all this will go some way towards Stoke’s bid to be the European City of Culture 2012.
Here’s a video I did explaining it all:
